IHV - Introduction to Human Vibration

Overview

Occupational human vibration is of increasing concern across a broad range of industries and this program provides practical ways to identify and manage this occupational risk.

Human Vibration is broadly divided into two categories - Whole Body Vibration (WBV) and Hand-Arm Vibration (HAV).

Both are typically caused by the human body being in contact with a vibrating object, such as a hand tool, vehicle, or structure.

The vibration source transmits vibration of varying frequency, intensity and characteristics to all or part of the body.

This can have a range of detrimental effects on health, safety and comfort – particularly if the exposure is prolonged.

This program will help you correctly identify where vibration is a risk by clearly explaining the vibration process and by dispelling some common misconceptions.

Once identified, unsafe vibration exposure should be reduced to safe levels. This course demonstrates how to quantify the risks to individuals, looks at how to raise awareness, and provides practical techniques for reducing vibration exposure.
